Toronto Women's Alternate Thursdays
The Toronto Women's Alternate Thursdays Hash House Harriers (T.W.A.T. H3) is one of several "hash kennels" in and around Toronto, Canada. We run bi-weekly, on alternate Thursdays, at 7pm year-round. Although the T.W.A.T. is organized by women, both men and women are welcome to participate in each run (typical turn out approx.15-20 people). Toronto area "Hashers" generally meet at a different pub/venue each week and then run/jog/walk a 5-8 km trail marked out in chalk or flour. The cost of each run is $5, which covers your run and a beer at the beer-check. Typically hashers stay around after the run to drink more beer, socialize, and eat dinner. "New Boots" (first time hashers) are reminded to bring old shoes and a good sense of humour. You do not have to be an athlete or in top physical shape to join the hash. Visitors are always welcome. The T.W.A.T. H3 chapter was founded by Jennifer "Half Wit" Fannin on August 18th, 2005. The T.W.A.T. differs from other Toronto hashes in that it is organized entirely by women and has some interesting, gender-biased rules. Men are welcome to run, but they are not permitted to be FRB's (Front Running Bastards) - a woman must always be at the front of the pack and all scouting at checks must be done by women. When a man "forgets" this important rule, he is immediately dressed in an apron so that he does not make the same mistake again! Both men and women are allowed to "hare" or set runs for the group.
